2019-2020 Recreational Basketball | 2nd through 6th graders

RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL - BOYS & GIRLS GRADES 2-6 Cost $65

The Recreational basketball program is available for boys and girls in grades 2-6. This program is designed as an intermediate program for those kids who want to play basketball but in a less competitive environment with less of a time commitment. The focus is to provide games where they can develop their skills at their own pace. The Mariemont Recreational Basketball is open to anyone who wishes to play. There are no try-outs or cuts in Recreational Basketball.  This option is a great option for kids who want to play another sport during the season but also play basketball.  The program involves:

2 Practices for 1 hour per week.

Season is 10 games (Expect 1 game each weekend)

Kids must play at least 2 quarters or equal playing time if more than 10 players / team.

1 Tournament

2019-2020 Athletic Basketball | 4th through 6th graders

ATHLETIC BASKETBALL – BOYS & GIRLS GRADES 4-6 – Cost $115

The Athletic option is available for boys and girls in grades 4 - 6. The Mariemont Athletic Basketball option is for kids who want a higher level of commitment and more competitive basketball program.  Players should have a higher skill level and an interest in continuing to play this sport at a higher level in the future.  Players are expected to place basketball as the priority during the season. Players are expected to attend ALL practices and games.  The minimum playing time is 1 quarter a game. Lack of attendance at practices will affect playing time. In essence, if you want to try out and are selected for an athletic team, you are expected to be “all in” for basketball.  Also note players are not guaranteed a spot on an Athletic team.  There will be tryouts to form teams and your child may be placed on a Recreational team.  The program involves:

2 Practices for 1 to 1 1/2 hours per week.  Early in the season there may be an extra Saturday practice.

Season is 20 games. (Expect a game every Saturday and Sunday each week)

Games will cover a larger geographic area so expect more travel.

Playing requirement is only 1 quarter or 6 minutes per game.

1 - 3 tournaments each season.

If for any reason, an Athletic option for a given age/gender is not formed, refunds will be issued and kids will be automatically signed up for the Recreational option.
